Thanks to Microsoft's FPS Boost, Dark Souls 3 on Xbox Series X/S will now run at 60 FPS.
Revealed on Twitter by Xbox, this free update is now available to all Xbox Series X/S owners. To get the most out of this FPS Boost upgrade, Microsoft recommends rebooting your console after the update is complete.
As noted by Eurogamer, this upgrade brings Dark Souls 3 closer to the performance levels seen on PS5. Via backwards compatibility, Dark Souls 3 locks the game at 1080p/60 FPS on Sony's latest console. While the Xbox Series X/S version still only supports resolution up to 900p, the 60 FPS jump will provide a much smoother experience than it had before.
This FPS Boost, in combination with the Xbox Series X/S' SSD hard drives that cut down on load times, makes Dark Souls 3 worth another look for those that may have been holding off due to the disparity in performance on the consoles. It's also great for those looking to replay all the FromSoftware games before Elden Ring is released in early 2022.
Dark Souls 3 is just one of the 95 games that support FPS Boost on Xbox Series X/S, a list that now includes Skyrim, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Yakuza 6, Alien: Isolation, Metro: Last Light, and much more.
